James T. Cavanaugh III
Jim Cavanaugh founded Cavanaugh Capital Management (CCM) in 1991. He is Chairman and principal stockholder of CCM. He is a member of the firm's investment committee.
Before founding CCM, Cavanaugh was a Managing Director of Alex. Brown & Sons, Inc., responsible for that firm’s public finance department. Having joined Alex. Brown in 1961, he was elected to partnership in 1969. He served as corporate director from 1985 until his retirement from the firm in 1990.
Cavanaugh received a BS in Economics from The College of the Holy Cross in 1957. He is a board member of the Cavanaugh Financial Group Charitable Foundation, James T. Cavanaugh & Associates, Inc., and the Lay Centre at Foyer Unitas Institute. He serves as Treasurer of the Association of Baltimore Area Grantmakers and Chairman of the Finance Committee for Sisters Academy. He is a member of the Catholic Family Foundation Investment Committee. He is a former trustee of both St. Mary’s Seminary and University and Loyola College, which are located in Baltimore, MD.
